DRM has joined the ReefTEMPS network in 2022 with it’s historical network RESOLAG (lagoons observing network).
RESOLAG is a sensor network located in French Polynesia. The program began in 2018 to acquire data on seawater parameters inside the lagoon impacted by pearl oyster farming activity. This involves long-term monitoring of seawater temperature, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, fluorescence and salinity. One of the network’s main objectives is to better understand the relationship between pearl oysters and their environment, in order to improve management of the farming activity. In the summer of 2024, a major heat wave caused significant bleaching in French Polynesia, underscoring the importance of these observations, which are now networked in ReefTEMPS.
